3. Wound sensor resistances in ceramic bodies

Temperature range depending upon type from -196°C to 850°C. Ceramic- sensor resistances are offered with one two or three measuring circles. Their main advantage lies in their adaptability at temperatures from -196°C to +850°C.

The resistance carrier consists of a ceramic 2 -. 4 or 6 hole capillary. In two lying next to one another capillaries are respectively two coils of platinum resistance wire which are connected at one end. After adjusting to the required tolerance, the input wires are welded at the free ends, the insides filled with ceramic powder and the open ends closed.

The total construction is cast as a protection against chemical and mechanical damages.

Since resistances lie loosely in the capillaries, ceramic sensor resistances show on the one hand no hysteresis behaviour, are however relatively susceptible to vibration on the other hand. Ceramic sensor resistances supply the most exact measurement results of all resistance types, and therefore are used particularly for sophisticated measuring and control functions.
